The Moon in our charts represents our happiness and how we get our needs met. It exemplifies how we experienced our mother or mother figure at an early age, and this determines how we want to be nourished and what makes us comfortable throughout our lives. Further, our early upbringing and our experience with getting our needs met shape our self-image and happiness. 

The Moon is what we’re used to; that’s why it’s known as our conditioned consciousness/mind. By studying the condition of our Moon in our birth chart, we can tell a lot about one's consciousness, a person's ability to adapt, our mother, the environment in which we were brought up, and more.

Many relate more to their Moon sign than their Sun sign because this luminary is all about the connections and bonds we make with others.
