I practice the Cards of Truth system, and each playing card corresponds to a planet and a major arcana Tarot card. To learn more about the Cards of Truth system, visit: www.hercosmiccrown.com/cardsoftruth.
The six of hearts and the six of diamonds playing cards correspond to the planet Venus and the Devil Tarot Card. Venus is the planet that is associated with the things we can get from the world. Venus, at its highest level, is about maintaining the natural order of life, is respectful, and follows proper etiquette. It’s about giving and getting something in return. It’s not about greedily taking nature’s resources, such as cutting down trees to make a profit. A person with a strong Venus won’t barge into someone's house with nothing to offer and eat all of their food and abruptly leave, while farting loudly.
This bright planet is about living a healthy, natural life. Some people obsessively seek to get their physical needs fulfilled. They crave sexual gratification, while others eat and drink until comatose. A strong Venus in our chart won’t influence us to overindulge because we’re more susceptible to diseases when we do.
Venus has to do with things that the world has to offer; this includes food. We will never feel satiated all the time with worldly things. Even though we get full with food, we eventually need to eat again, to survive. If we allow our minds to hunger for more sex, wine, clothes, and jewelry, we’ll generally feel more and more trapped and empty. But Venus and the red six playing cards are about win-win situations and doing the least amount of harm as possible. We pick fruit from the tree we’ve planted and pruned. What we take care of takes care of us.
When we’re living out of harmony with nature, that’s when we are engaging in “sinful” behavior, so to speak. We become gluttonous when we eat more than what we need. When we covet other people’s belongings, we’re no longer grateful for what we have because we’re too focused on what others have. This can lead us further down a pit of sorrow. When we already have more than enough, but we desire to get more and more, we’ve been caught in the devil’s web and don’t even know it.

On the Rider-Waite’s Devil card, we see a male and a female in chains in front of the Devil. This signifies that when we chase the things of the world for egocentric reasons and without giving back, we’re bound to the Devil’s playground. When we chase money, fame, power, status, and other things the world can give us, some believe that this can lead us to be stuck on a hamster wheel of reincarnation until we become enlightened and break free.
I’m not saying that having good food, a nice car, and a lovely house are bad things. But seeking material things for egocentric reasons shouldn’t consume us or become our sole purpose in life. We can break free from the matrix by looking to get our needs met inwardly and to understand what our purpose and path are by following our inspiration. Having a balance between our material goals and our spiritual aspirations is paramount.
Venus gives us material fulfillment, but the limitations of this planet and the number six are that there’s a limit to how much we’re going to get from the world. Each person has a cap on how much they’ll make in a lifetime. We can only eat so much food in one sitting before we puke. And the food we eat will be digested, and we’ll be hungry again some hours later. We can look at people with all the money, power, and fame in the world, and some are still not happy. If we’re fortunate, we may get our dream house and car, but those things don’t provide inner fulfillment. They satiate our cravings temporarily but not our souls.
The secret isn’t in the cars, homes, or accolades. The secret to happiness begins with the number seven playing cards, the destruction of our material world, and our flawed sense of Self. Then it’s the number eight playing cards that we realize that everything that happens is for a reason and is a reflection of what’s inside of us. And the number nine playing cards is about seeing the One in all.
